The Design Team left the office for an afternoons civilised lawn bowls at the Mt Eden Bowling Club.

Well it started off civilised.

I had not played lawn bowls before but it became apparent to me quite quickly that this was a game of skill and not just a way for dottery old men to wander around in the afternoon getting their exercise on the lawn.

Louis and I did not fair well in our first game but we won 3 out of 5 and all in all it was a damn fine day.
Then there was the playoff for the semis, and also the hotly contested playoff for the bottle of Mr. Vodka.

A couple of my photographs appear on their site ….  >> Bowling with Mr. Vodka « Mr. Vodka.

Bean Beautification

I started my new job on Monday.  And moved into my bean.
Thats what I am calling my desk as its the shape of a kidney bean (well obviously).

the current Bean

the current Bean - boring!

Packing up my old desk, I realised that I had collected quite a lot of crap.
And I didnt want to bring all that old crap with me.
Really just the imp0rtant stuff – and then the stuff I need to do my job each day.

The beans not that big – but seriously, how much shit does one need?
Especially with the internet … that lessens the amount of books for sure.

Blackbeard tossed his insubordinate crew into the Jellyfish - and so might I

There is my name tag.  Everyone has one of those.
Its easy to find the people you need to talk to when you are new – so I am a big supporter of named desks right now.

What I really want is a plant.  Something nice and green.  And reasonably large.

And to move my phone.  Which I did, 2 minutes after I typed that sentence.

And I might bring in my Digital Photoframe instead of printing out stuff for my shelf/wall thing.

And the other guys here have done some sort of personality profiling and have either red, green, blue or yellow bears on their desks – depending on what their results were.
So I bought in Tux – the Linux Penguin.

Once all thats done – and I have cleared out the mess of cables under my desk (well tidied it all up and away), then I will be nice and settled.
It might be too soon.  It is still only my first week and all but what the heck, I’m not planning on changing jobs any time soon.

What do you really need – or like to have – on your desk or in your cubicle at work?

i work from home 99.99% of the time.  i get more done … and my home office is nicer.

some days i dont hear from anyone, they pretty much leave me to do my thing.  sometimes i get harassed non-stop.

some days, i am the one that is doing the harassing.
